Three Common Causes of Sewer Line Problems

  • Tree Roots
During times of low rainfall, tree roots spread throughout the ground searching for water and sometimes break into sewer lines. In many cases, this causes plumbing clogs and severely damaged sewer lines, which can be costly to fix. It is highly advisable to not plant trees near pipes.

  • Pipe Corrosion
If you are experiencing frequent drain backup, your sewer line may already be corroded. Our plumbers can perform a detailed sewer camera inspection to determine the exact cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repair options.

  • Blockage
Sewer lines can become blocked if you keep throwing oil and grease down the sink and flushing objects that should not be flushed, such as tampons and diapers. These blockages will restrict water flow in your sewer line.

REPAIR THROUGH PIPE LINING METHODS

The first common way to rehabilitate a damaged sewer system is through sewer pipe lining. The process involves taking a resin-coated flexible tube and feeding it into the old sewer line. Once the new line is in place, the tube is filled with air that pushes it against the lining of the old pipe. A new pipe is then formed as the coating on the old pipe hardens.

REPAIR THROUGH BURST PIPE TRECHNLESS METHOD

If your sewer pipe needs a more serious overhaul, you can replace the pipe without having to dig a trench through a method called pipe bursting. The name hints at the process which involves pushing a device through the old pipe which breaks up the old pipe while pulling a new pipe into place.
